I tried one of those recipes where you crack an egg over some just boiled rice, where the heat of the rice is supposed to be enough to cook the egg as you stir it through the rice. Did. Not. Work. It was vile. A waste of an egg and of the rice.

What are you cooking, FS?

If that happens, just chuck your rice and egg onto a frying pan and stir it around a bit - it will cook pretty quick, even if it leaves a mess on the pan. (Or microwave it, that'd work too.)

Right? I do the 'egg onto rice' as the final step in making fried rice, with the stove just turned off so there's plenty of residual heat, but if it's not enough just put it back on for a bit.

We take turns doing dinner and tomorrow it is my turn to cook. Not sure entirely what I'm going to make yet.

The only time I've had that work is if you crack the egg into fried rice while still in the wok, break the yoke, and then scoop the whole thing into a bowl.
