There were plenty of big stars around, but they didn't want to move to New Zealand for that long for a dorky fantasy movie, which is fair. Cate Blanchett had Oscar nominations by that stage, so I'd say she's a big name too! And of course Blanchett and Weaving (and John Noble and David Wenham) just had to hop over from Australia for their parts, not the same as the whole slog for everyone else.
