... This is so wrong omg. Drawn child porn means literally drawing porn with characters who are children. This CAN BE categorized as LOLI or SHOTA, especially if the author is Japanese or draw them in manga style, but LOLI and SHOTA can still be child porn if the sexual scene are explicit (sometimes they are sometimes they aren't).
Shota and Loli are terms that come from the abbreviated version of Shotaro/Lolita COMPLEX and, like the Oedipos complex, means mainly a type of attractions. Then in manga culture usually means content with sexualized children, but as I said before, the sex doesn't have to be explicit to be Shota/Lola. Outside Japan usually means ONLY the explicit stuff, but that's because people don't get nuance.
Drawn child porn is always explicit. In Japan it's legal. Frown upon by some people but usually well tollerated from the general public (you can walk in places with manga/anime and see Shota/Loli products staring back at you no problem) and YES as you said, some authors dabble in it before starting their carrer and in Japan they usually have no problems with that.

Child pornography is illegal in Japan. Age of consent is 13 years old (in some places is higher, but nationally it's 13) AND YOU CAN SEE VIDEO WITH TEENS IN STORES (I have no idea if they're sold legally or not, but you can still find them).
DRAWN child pornography, Loli and Shota, is not illegal in Japan, but it's illegal in other countries.

For a little reference on the status of law regarding shota/loli in Japan:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Child_pornography_laws_in_Japan#Lolicon_and_shotacon

So... no. ["Drawn child porn" is an oxymoron.] is a wrong statement. I think the problem here is not with fandom in general (but yeah, the western fandom don't really understand Loli/Shota), but with your lack of text comprehension.
Please properly educate YOURSELF before complaining about others. This seriously pissed me off.
I don't even consume Shota/Loli myself and dropped Made in Abyss because it was too much for me, but I tollerate its existence. I have no personale stake in this argument, but I got riled up by your comment LMAO what a day.

Yeah, they were so confident and smug while being so wrong and ignorant. That always seems to be the way it is lol. It’s funny of them to say that anyone else should have to “take mandatory classes before joining fandom” while having no idea what they were talking about.

I suspect the confident and smug anon above us is very western centric (maybe USA? I come from a western country where Shota/Loli is illegal) in their POV about fandom. Framing the legality of shota/loli as an argument to define "Drawn Child Pornography" when that legality is not universal is just laughable.

If you are the anon that replyed below me: Well put. That's exactly what I wanted to convey with my post and my thought about this issue. I agree 100% with what you said.

Hi! I'm the confident and smug anon and am absolutely aware that some places have laws where "drawn child porn" is illegal. I'm also absolutely confident and smug in the fact that those laws are wrong and backwards, and am very grateful to live in a place where they don't apply! :) Your European and Australian sensibilities aren't as progressive as you think.

And I was mostly being tongue-in-cheek about the mandatory classes bit, but I'm not surprised you let your own smugness get in the way of seeing how obvious that was.

Age of consent in Japan is not as cut-and dry "everyone can fuck a 13 year old child" as you present it though. It's complicated but basically, someone over 18 having sex with a 13 year old is a felony, other age combinations vary.
However, there very much is a huge, huge moral difference between drawing CP and actual real CP, which really should be referred to as CSAM (child sexual abuse material) instead considering there are real children getting harmed.

You are right. I should've specified this point more, but I glossed over it and sinned of innacuracy. I wrote that just to show that age of consent is 13 years old instead of 14 or 16 years old as some other countries. As I stated this also changed from various prefectures where the age of consent is older (and other cases apply). In Japan the law on statutory rape is different from other western countries amd usually unfortunately not much inforced.

According to the wikipedia page on statutory rape in Japan (https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%B3%95%E5%AE%9A%E5%BC%B7%E5%A7%A6), from 2017 the law is:
>> 13歳未満の男女に対する「性交等」またはわいせつ行為
Sexual acts or acts of obscenities towards male and female below 13 years old
>> 監護者の立場に乗じての18歳未満の男女に対する「性交等」(同上)、またはわいせつ行為
IN CASE OF ROLES AS GUARDIANS Sexual acts or acts of obscenities towards male and female below 18 years old

THIS IS VERY SIMPLIFIED and the national guideline only, but you'll rarely see persecutions outside these guidelines.
In my limited experience with Japanese news, the general public is much harsher in the second case (guardian role) then other cases.
Feel free to correct me as these are the informations I have and they could be dated. I've lived in Japan for a while but this is absolutely not my area of expertise.

Sounds about right. People say the rules and laws are so damn vague so people, especially men in power, can get away with more. Which wouldn't be unlikely.
