I haven't rewatched the show in a long, long time. But from what I remember, the problem I had with both Ruby and Bela is that the writers did the thing where they tried to sell the audience on new characters by showing how much more badass and powerful and cool and smart they were compared to the main characters the show was already about. And that just never works. That's how you get Poochies.

Look on the bright side maybe one day Ruby and Bela will have to go because their planet needs them

On my most recent rewatch I thought Bela was fine but Ruby still sucks.

ruby at least felt like an organic part of the story, bela was a character that felt expanded upon because the network told them to add another female character (which is exactly what she was).

also lauren cohan sucks.
