I thought Ruby 2.0 was awful. Gorgeous, but a terrible actress. Cassidy isn’t a great actress but I think she excels at bitchy.

Firmly seconding this. As a casual viewer of the show, Ruby 1.0 worked for me. I wouldn't say she was an excellent character or actor, but she sold the character and I generally found her enjoyable to watch. Her replacement was just awful, imo. My thought as soon as the new actor was introduced was literally, "Oh no, this girl can't act. They're ruined the character with terrible casting. Damn it, I liked her."

I don't want to get lumped into the J2 shippers by hating on Genevieve Padalecki, but I hate her acting and I really hated her Ruby. Katie Cassidy was perfect for this character.

Bitchy is the most predominate card in Cassidy's deck. She is a very limited actress but she does villains well. I wouldn't call Gen terrible. I think Gen did okay only because she and Jared had chemistry and we had to believe that Sam would get lured in by the dark side because of Ruby. If she and Jared didn't have that natural connection, it wouldn't have been believable. Yeah, she's not a very good actress.

Thank you! I loved Katie Cassidy as Ruby 1. It's sweet and cute that Jared met his wife in Genevieve but she's just not that great an actor. Shame they couldn't keep Katie Cassidy. I always felt the series suffered from her loss.
