What's the hypocrisy for Rorschach? I've read the comic twice [the second time in the last month], and I'm trying to find it. Is it what he says about Silhouette? I've read that [combined with his comments on Laurie's costume] as Rorschach's dislike for sex due to his view of it from his childhood and his mother.

It's possible you're seeing a hypocrisy I just haven't thought of, and I really hope you see this and explain.

Also, I also ship Dan/Rorschach in that same sad, slightly painful way that it pretty much has to be shipped. Because Rorschach just wouldn't, you know?

Not OP, but I'm pretty sure he specifically mentions homosexuals negatively at some point, along with his misogynistic statements. Unfortunately, my memory kind of sucks, so I can't remember the exact part...

You may be right. I know he refers to the Silhouette's death as the fault of her "filthy lifestyle", but again, I've always put that down to his issues with sexuality due to his mother being such a terrible person.

God yes, you learn to live in the angst side of life with this ship. No happy ending for these boys.

I'm so happy that I have renewed my love for the comic - if via the movie.

I want to see something with pre-dogs Rorschach, something before Walter went away for good. The moment we get of that in the comic [where they're meeting with Captain Metropolis to start Crimebusters], Rorschach's speaking cadence is different. It's not some big, verbose thing, but it's definitely not the tone we have in the present day that sounded, in my head, almost exactly like Jackie Earle Haley played it in the film.

I really want to see Rorschach and Dan and something like "5 Awkward Touches Between Nite Owl and Rorschach".

Pre-dogs Rorschach would be an interesting thing to see in a fic or something else. You are right about the differences. I do need to reread it again now. Ah, I love it :D

Goddamn, I was prepared to let Watchmen go. Just to bask in the movie for its glory and not get into a fandom about it at all. (Specifically because a) the yaoi part of me has been long dead and b) If I were to feasibly ship anything it'd be Dan/Laurie/Manhattan) But the way OP described their relationship, and the conversation you guys had here, combined with the subtle HOTNESS of JEH, I think I might have a new OTP.

tl;dr: I think I have my first yaoi OTP in years because of you fine people.

try to find owlblot :D It's a whole comm decidicated to them. oh the angst you will find. There's a fic by i_am_your_spy, you need to read for sure. It's achingly good. It's a series too.

I work at a comic shop, and I've been freakin' gleeful to introduce it to so many people.

"Um...hi. I saw the "Watchmen" trailer and I was wondering--"
"Here! Enjoy!"
"Oh...thanks."

Which has then led to a dozen people coming back into the shop and going, "OMG! AWESOME!", and I go, "I KNOW!"

In short, dorking out about "Watchmen" makes my freakin' day.

And now I'm seriously considering a "5 Awkward Touches" fic. Because it would be a) fun and b) a good way to ignore my homework.

I need to get my own copy of the comic too. Had to get it for less than legal ways to satisfy my craving but a trip to London will satisfy my comic book need :D
