(Anonymous) 2009-03-12 12:22 pm (UTC)(link)I love Donna for the following reasons plus many more, but I don't feel like preaching because you're entitled to your own opinion:
- She stood up to the Doctor and fully put him in his place when she felt in necessary. Yes, all the other companions do this as well, but Donna did it so well. She wasn't afraid to insult him.
- The Doctor and Donna had an amazing relationship that wasn't romantic in the slightest. They were friends. I loved S4 because it wasn't shippy. Granted people do ship Doctor/Donna, but you can't stop the shippers from shipping.
- Donna was independent. She did things during her travels with the Doctor without him present (See "Midnight"). She didn't follow the Doctor wherever she went.
- She wasn't even bovvered.

Also, her choice to stay behind in Midnight made me lose respect for her--you'd rather go sunning than see a wonder of the universe, the whole point of travelling with the Doctor at all? Really? You have so little natural curiousity?
