i was a bitter little teen who hated the holidays and preferred this to rudolph for the fiftieth time, so unfortunately i still know the words to all the songs.

i still think that if you took out the racism and dialed down the toilet/edgy humor by like, 10-20%, it'd be a pretty great movie. as is, the animation is still fantastic years later.

definitely. Cut the racism and potty humor for sure. I think the fact they set up his self-loathing as evident from the first song is a nice break, for sure, from this kind of movie.

"I hate love, I hate you, I hate me' is in the very first song, and it's great.

exactly! i think it's really important to have holiday movies that deal with, directly or otherwise, the fact that mental health collectively takes a huge dive around this time of year. but then also there's just lovingly animated shots of human feces and... everything about the chinese restaurant owner. it's pretty frustrating and i haven't watched it in several years because come on, i'm not going to subject my friends to that.

i don't really have a point here other than it's movie that occupies a very weird place in my head and i'm glad somebody else out there feels the same.
