Wasn't that the point? It's clear from the story that Godot is a very flawed person, and in the end he pays for his flaws, no matter how well-intentioned he was when he did what he did. I guess I would be bothered if people considered him to be faultless too :P I don't, but I still have quite an affection for him.

He never gets called on his sexist bull.

I recall on a couple of occasions, Mia thought "WTF is up with this guy??" I think that the game itself was more concerned about the humorous aspects of his "bull." It was pretty clear that Mia was the only member of the firm at the time that wasn't nuts.

Oh, I'm not saying the game set him up to be totally flawless, or that his flaws make him a bad person or the game a bad game, or even that I think everyone ought to dislike him (though I guess it does sound like that, oops). I just feel like that flaw gets glossed over a lot in fandom, especially when he's being omg fluffy OTP with Mia, and that bothers me.

Yeah, it does sound like that :P I understand what you're getting at, though!

I would love to write some fic where he's portrayed more IC. I would love to learn the dynamics of their relationship. For a time I wondered if his love for Mia was unrequited. It doesn't ever explicitly say that they were in a relationship, does it?

...though I've never read any fic from the fandom at all, to be honest :P I'm not a big fic reader, so I can't say whether or not it's been handled well in general.

(I did go looking for fic once, involving Nick and Iris, and didn't find anything I liked :< So I gave up.)

I worded it pretty badly, I know -- but I'm paying the price for that now having to explain myself over and over, so. :P Well, I guess I don't have to explain myself, but I still feel like I should.

You know, I actually don't remember whether it's explicitly stated or not. Fandom seems to take it a bit for granted, so.

That's too bad -- Nick/Iris doesn't seem to get a lot of love in the fandom.
