I really don't understand the issue people have with Haruki and Akihiko. Yes, Akihiko attempted to assault Haruki while he was drunk, but he realises he fucked up and works to make himself a better person. Haruki is willing to give him another chance because he loves him.

A lot of people are like 'Akihiko is a bad person so Haruki should kick him to the curb', but I see it as a realistic portrayal of how this sort of situation plays out in real life. People fuck up, and the people who love them forgive them (at least the first time it happens).

While it's certainly realistic at times to depict characters forgiving (deserved or not) for serious fuck ups or for downright horrible things like...attempted assault?! (which is more than a little fuck up oopsie), I also think it's totally valid for people to be completely put off by it. Especially if they're lead to believe the relationship and story doesn't include such things. Depicting relationships like that can be heavy and tricky.

Yes, people can be horrible. Yes, people sometimes forgive or stay in less than ideal situations and unhealthy relationships. But just because that's true doesn't mean people have to accept that as something okay to always insert in their media. Some people just want to enjoy a cute fictional relationship.

Of course people are free to dislike it, I have no issue with that, I was simply stating that I don't (completely) understand the hate.
