I'm glad those of us who keep producing our less-than-stellar self-indulgent zero-interaction works can still inspire others, if not by the quality, then at least by our sheer stubborn determination. ;)

(Meant unironically, BTW, from a similarly ungifted writer. Self-aware enough to know I won't be winning any talent or popularity contests, so it's nice to know the joy of writing, at least, is inspiring enough.)

Perhaps you should read it loudly, as in making a comment where you say that you are there and keep reading. Maybe it will make her day(year)?

Self-indulgent fic with lots of tropes and cliches is my favorite. Writing quality aside. A lot of fanfic can be breathtaking in its depth and the effort the person writing it took but I also don't usually go to fanfic to find Good Literature (it's more a pleasant surprise when I do rather than a deliberate search). I want to scratch my id like a dog with fleas. These days most of what I read is fic because nothing does that so well as fanfic for me. (Please, don't take this to mean I have incredibly low standards just that I don't also have incredibly high standards and I like campy, tropey, cliche filled stuff because it's fun to just be entertained with it for me.)

Reading and writing fanfic is for everyone regardless of talent, skill, or desire to improve. It's there for all of us and has something for all of us and that's why I love it so much.
