102. There's an irony to this secret. Thanks for being the other side to Ariel's coin without realizing it, OP. You make me shake my head for completely missing the point.

142. Considering every single comic you just mentioned is better written than your friend's favorite series, she can suck it. Also, there are plenty of "real authors" who have written, are writing, and want to write for comics.

102. To be fair to the OP, it's pretty easy to miss the point when the movie itself subverts it by having a flawlessly Happily Ever After ending.

It's a Disney animated movie. To not expect a perfect Happily Ever After is like going into a Saw movie and not expecting a total gorefest.

I didn't say anything about expecting it to be otherwise. I'm just saying that as a result "the point" was as diluted as a homeopathic remedy, and you can't really blame the OP for missing it.

Actually, I think I still can blame the OP for missing it. She she never once mentions the ending. She's too busy ranting about how perfect a life Ariel had while the was a mermaid. It's pretty clear that the OP simply thinks that being a mermaid is far superior to the life that Ariel ultimately chooses. The fact that Ariel thinks in a perfectly vice versa manner (even before Eric) seems to have gone right over her head.

Watching the movie now, actually (no points for guessing why) and "Part Of Your World" is sung before she even knows who Eric is. So um, she kinda wanted to be human even before "some guy" came along. It could be argued that the point gets muddled, though, when that guy pushes her to actively seek being human.
