118. I agree about the way the focus seems to be moving from single player to online multiplayer, but for different reasons. I usually suck too much to make versus modes fun for me, or in the case of XBL, I'm too cheap to pay for a subscription. :|

Oh, being not very hardcore is another reason I don't like multi much. I mean, I'm a grumpy fart that grew up with the NES and Genisis, but I don't pay attention to natures and effort values and so on with my Pokeymans, for instance. I just like catching 'em all and role playing as a young lady with insanely powerful monsters at her beck and call.

I am exactly the same! I have had many conversations that go like so: "Why are you using this character/creature/weapon/whatever?" "Because it looks cool!" "But... (blah, blah, insert tl;dr reason why my choice sucks)" "But it's really cool."

IDK, for me, the most important part about playing games is that I should be having fun. For some people, it seems to be more like a job. I don't care that I'm not the best player, or that I don't know all the right moves, as long as I can have fun with it. I suppose that striving for perfection is some peoples' idea of fun, but I really hate it when developers cater to that a little too much.

YES.

One of my top favourites is Charizard. I don't care if they have abysmal Special Attack for a Fire-type or whatever it was. It's a goddamn dragon with a flaming tail! What could be more awesome?!

...okay Mewtwo but I just like his backstory in the games. Also cats are awesome and I've always had a soft spot for phenomenal psychic powers in a character.

OMG I love all fire types! They always look so amazing because... they're usually on fire! I always get crap for having a Rapidash, but it's like... IT'S A UNICORN WITH FLAMING HAIR! My inner 12 year-old is dying with glee!

I also choose some of my Pokemon based on the story. I end up watching quite a few episodes and movies because I'm often around kids who love the show. It's why Pikachu will always be my favorite, no matter how weak it is.

Coincidentally, my first Pokemon ever was Pikachu (in Yellow version) and in the second game I got (Red), I chose Charmander. Ahh, I still remember the nicknames I gave them and everything.

Yeah @.@ Like the, "Fox only, no items, Final Destination!" idiots who reckon anyone who ISN'T a tournament-level player is doing it wrong. Fuck off, I'm having fun. Who CARES if my main has been bottom-tier since SSB64? News flash: Link isn't my main because I want to be elite hardcore, he's my main because I like playing as him.
