Oh shit, really? Now I definitely can't get that game. In TOS, Raine was the only reason why I managed to pummel the bosses into mince meat. :(

That's not exactly accurate. Shirley gets kidnapped basically any time she's on the screen for more than five minutes, but she doesn't even join your party until the second half of the game, and then never leaves. There are two healers for the first half (and, really, for the second -- Shirley's much better as a nuker than a healer, even though magic in Legendia is only useful for comboing), and as far as I remember, neither of them leave the party after they join.
