I said it before and I'll say it again: representation doesn't stop being representation just because it caters to the writer's kink or a popular kink. It's a very puritan attitude to imply that something stops being meaningful if you're getting off to it.

Am not on Twitter and definitely don't keep track on what authors are doing there but what pissed me off wqs that there was a pre-order campaign where you could get character cards. Two. Which you'd think were of two main characters or something but no. There were 12 different ones and you'd get randoms... the ONLY option to get all 12 was to preorder SIX FREAKING BOOKS.
I do hope ppl who wanted those cancelled 4-5 orders cause wtf. Never seen something like that in a preorder campaign and I generally support all ways that help authors make money.

(Yes, I still sent my recipe in cause hey, still free stuff and I ordered it for a buddy read. Still wondered if it would be main character + one random other... no, it wasn't.)

C. S. Pacat is not cis, is not het and is not a woman. Just because he is genderqueer and uses both she/her and he/him pronouns doesn't mean everyone just gets to misgender him as 'a woman writing m/m for kink' constantly. Pacat is writing about kinky queer he/him characters as a kinky queer he/him person. The m/m is not the goddamn kink part, that's his own gender and his own rep.

For people who care so much about rep, these threads are pretty fucking transphobic, gotta say. Guess it's only important if it's about hypothetical characters, but dunking on real queer people is fair game?
