It's pretty bad. The characters are very ooc, most of the face-shots look traced (and I'd bet my life they were), and just, a lot of things. It's on deviantart if your curious.

Yyeah. I read some of it. The tracing is just... too blatant for words. It really is. I think I am not suited for this kind of humor tho, when I see something this downright BAD, I just run screaming in the other direction. Staying for the lulz would just be torturing myself. Good lord this comic is really so bad.

In a nutshell: Shabbatai Zevi was a crazy bipolar motherfucker in the mid-16th century, and he went to visit Nathan to be spiritually healed (because he knew he was a crazy motherfucker and Nathan supposedly could heal spiritual afflictions). After hearing about the wacky shit Zevi did, Nathan was like "Dude, you're not crazy. You're the Jewish Messiah." And Zevi was all "Hey, you know what? I AM." So Nathan became his prophet and first disciple, and spread the word of Shabbateanism which led to this crazy Messianic movement all over Europe. Their whole relationship just seemed so very slashy. I am a complete heretic.

... Wow. That is seriously awesome. I wonder why this is the first time I hear about it... did they start or affect any wars going on, or were they just going 'round Europe, being crazy and spiritual?

It's probably the most interesting thing I've learned all year (I'm taking a Jewish history course). And, no, aside from pissing everyone off (especially traditional Jews) they didn't incite any major violence that I know of. That was back when pretty much everyone disliked but generally ignored the Jews, except when it came to financial matters and trade.

Maybe "ignored" isn't the right word given the violence, persecutions, expulsions, conversion efforts etc. that were inflicted on the diaspora, but they didn't care much about intra-Jewish affairs.

Aah. That would explain things. They didn't end up making change so much as they just made everyone go WTF at them then? What a pity. What where their faith all about then? Was it just balls to the walls insane "Everyone must worship the octopus for it is the earwax of God descended to Earth" stuff, or was it at least sensible on some level?
