That you may, though be aware of this: I do absolutely nothing worthy of note on my journal. I mean nothing. This is because I just joined LJ for the roleplay and occasional discussions, and if I did say anything it would probably just be about videogames and various nerdy stuff.

And it will never stop amusing me how many complained about Nomura's girlifications, only to realize "hey wait a minute that's Amano's original designs". In some cases they swallow their pride and go "well I still think they look ridiculous, even if Amano has so much cred", but all too often they backpedal blindly and I laugh. Also Sephiroth is a mama's boy and suck and Kefka Rules.

And while it IS kind of creepy to fetishize and make a whole sobgroup about murderously unstable girls, I think yanderes are a kind of fascinating... anti-reaction to tsunderes. Here we have girls, for that is what they mostly are, who are very set in their ways, know exactly what they want and strive to actually get it feels almost like a breath of fresh air after seeing so many wishy-washy "romances" where the tsunderes just beat the guy up when all she wants is to hug and be lovey-dovey with him.

Although now that the word is out there, existing and breathing and jumping around like an unintended yet energetic child, I find myself wondering just what a sobgroup is.

Don't worry about it, I collect friends like pokemon.

I don't know why any backpedaling is necessary, to be honest. Making the characters look just a little more appropriate for the pride parade is kind of his thing, and in the context of his art, that's great. But as soon as you put it into a game, it sort of... Well... You see what I'm saying, to be sure. Either way, I stand by what I said: slapping that outfit on a nomura-looking Sephiroth just makes him look like he has a very strict lavender candle regiment. At least Amano kept the nose.

ALSO KEFKA SUCKS KUJA IS WAY BETTER

To be honest, I just think we need more xderes in general. "Appears to be x but is actually y!" surely has a lot of possibilities and will create new and innovative Japanese shorthand that can be misapplied to a variety of situations.

OH YEAH WELL KUJA'S SEXUAL IDENTITY IS LESS CLEARCUT THAN KEFKAS he's genocide-sexual AND THIS MERITS HIM MOCKERY AND MAKES KEFKA THE SUPERIOR CHARACTER. SOMEHOW.

Agreed. I think I saw a new kind of -dere on tv tropes... oh yeah, kudere. Cool dere, someone who is usually completely unflappable and does not react with either rage or sweetness but who is apparently a mushy romantic at heart. We could go on like this for hours.

I want a -dere for the type who is all cool and stuff on the outside, but will have the hardest geek outs of anyone you ever knew when presented with a comic they like/a video game/an action figure/etc, etc. That one would be useful for real life.
