This. I've also found a lot of the 'choose your own adventure' branching-type games (which I don't dislike) suffer from that mechanic a bit because some stuff doesn't get explained because you didn't make a different/previous choice.

AYRT. Oh yeah, those can definitely be hit or miss on how well they handle it. Obviously, they're trying to make sure every route has new and interesting things for a player but sooometimes that doesn't work so well.
