I'm late to the party but I want to say, it's hilarious people defend Korra as rep for literally anything LGBTQ because in the show her attraction to Asami was absolutely buried in subtext and not explicit at all, unlike her attraction to Mako. (And no, I don't ship Korra and Mako. I don't ship anyone from this show. I just don't think it's a very good show, guys.)

I also don't count interviews of the creators saying the ending was supposed to be gay either. LoK was a mess and so was their attempt at shoehorning Korrasami at the 11th hour. It was very "Dumbledore was gay the whole time actually." No thank you, I'll take some real representation instead please.

I agree with everything you said, except for it being hilarious that people defend her as bi. It's not great rep the way it was written, but like it or not, it still had an impact on a lot of queer kids watching the show and on future rep in kids' TV. So yeah, I'll defend Korra as bi when people call her a lesbian, because she is bi, good show or not. Queer characters can exist on bad shows too.
