Because when she was alive people ranted and railed about what a stupid character she was, but lots of people felt bad because of how she died, (and the shoujo love art machine kicked into high gear when she became "tragic" and not just "forced" or "evil").

I don't think they felt sorry because she died. It's the way she died that the fanart got better. It was the most sparkliest emotionally charged scene ever! Blighted love! And all that jazz.

Exactly. No one cared when she was alive, but when she became the poster-child for wangst and twue love... [I for one am pleased by the art, because I like pretty art, especially of purple-haired people.]

Speaking of purple-haired people, Tieria's supposed to die this week.

Well, Ribbons got shot in the head but kept a spare clone around to body hop. I'm guessing when they say that Tieria 'dies' it means that he loses his mortal body and gets stuck in Veda.
