It makes me want to shake them and yell that they have no idea what it's actually like to have a female body and desperately wish that weren't the case.

No, I have a feeling a lot more girls do understand what that feels like than you're giving them credit for. Without being transgender.

Without wanting to lessen what transgendered people have to go through, let me agree with you. I've always felt strongly that I was a woman, but damn, in gaming shops and cons and usenet and bbs's, I've wanted desperately to be a man, just so I wouldn't have to deal with sexism.

Cisgendered women may wish they were men because they want the privilege that comes with that, or something along those lines, but I am pretty sure no cisgendered person really knows what it's like to be trans. It's not at all the same as sometimes wishing that you didn't have tits so guys would take you more seriously or whatever.

I wasn't trying to compare the situations directly--because, yes, being transgender is insanely difficult and I wish anyone dealing with GID happiness--only point out that you don't have to be a man in a woman's body to dislike or even hate being a woman at some point in your life.

That's what I think the secret maker might be missing. Those fans' reasons might seem shallow on the surface, but they speak of a deeper problem in our society, and thus, I think, deserve some amount of respect and sympathy. It's not about insulting you; they're doing it for a completely different reason.
