Haha, fair point! Although I think you could make the point that all Ellis's stuff is set in a world where Bateman-ism (minus the, er, gruesome murdering, but with +10 vacuousness and shallowness) is a society-wide condition, so it makes sense that everyone in his fiction is exactly as almost unreadably fucking boring as everyone else :D Definitely, though, American Psycho is the novel (out of the ones I've read, at least, which is only The Rules of Attraction and Glamorama - so maybe I've just not read enough to get fed up with them yet :D) where he does the most with that basic social criticism.

You've got a point there too. But even in Lunar Park, where Ellis is the main character and makes an attempt to be a normal human, he still ends up just talking about designer shoes.

AP is definitely the one book of his to read though. It may be boring as can be in some places, but I love it dearly.
