With all due respect for your opinion,
There are a lot of aspects of "Mai-Hime" that I take issue with because of the quote unquote "disturbing implications." However, as far as the Shizuru/Natsuki dynamic is concerned, I consider this relationship legit for one reason: There is no actual moment in the anime where Shizuru admits to raping Natsuki, nor is there any moment where we clearly see her doing it. I realize that this seems like a BS point because of Yukino's comment about seeing what Shizuru did, and the screenshot following it of Shizuru supposedly disrobing and crawling into bed with a very unconscious Natsuki. However, what Shizuru actually did is highly obscured by the blind, thereby leaving the truth up for interpretation. Honestly, rape seems extremely out of character for Shizuru given her deep desire to protect Natsuki. Also, consider the next to last episode when Shizuru technically wins the fight with Natsuki. Does she molest her upon capture? No, she hugs her. A rather chaste hug, I might add. Would a rapist do something like that? I don't think so. Especially if she was perfectly aware that she could, given that Natsuki was basically powerless at that point. Finally, Natsuki has no memory of the rape. Given that she was unconscious, this is not THAT difficult to grasp. But what about physical evidence? I would think that something as physical as that would be evident to the person it happened to. Moreover, Natsuki has a subconscious memory of Shizuru kissing her, but not of Shizuru raping her? That just doesn't add up in my book. To wrap up my argument, the sexual assault that most people are so willing to pin on Shizuru simply because of one suggestive screenshot, and the testimony of a girl who is obviously trying to blackmail her at the time, seems a little iffy to me. You are free to disagree, but I really wanted to put this argument out there.
