I won't lie but I love the Cinderella with Brandy but Ever After is my absolute favorite telling of Cinderella that has ever come out.

It was just on the TV the other day and I saved it to my DVR because it was such a great nostalgia kick for me and I still love the movie even now as someone in my 30s.

I love and adore the Cinderella tale, and "Ever After" is one of my absolute favorite adaptations of it! It definitely deserves more love and attention, especially when people went bananas over new interpretations of classic fairy tales and not many people bring up this interpretation.

speak for yourself im european we grew up with three wishes for cinderella it's great

That one is still my favourite! Have you watched the remake? I didn't want to at first, but it actually turned out quite cute.

I don't remember the one with Brandy, though I'm sure I've seen it.
Supposedly the Disney version was my favorite movie when I was like 3, and was how I learned how to rewind movies on the betamax :p.

But I think as an adult, yeah, Ever After is definitely up there on one of my favorite adaptations. One of my favorite light feel-good movies to watch in general!

Best version

It's the only one with a snarky daVinci, how could it not be the best version?

(Anonymous) 2022-01-21 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I love Ever After a whole lot, too.

(Anonymous) 2022-01-21 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Another vote of love for Ever After. Which reminds me, I need to get it on BR.

Also, my favorite, but honestly there are very few versions of the Cinderella story that I don't enjoy weirdly.

It's such a good grounded version. I feel like making Cinderella "real" is actually very hard, but this one is sooo good at keeping the feeling without losing the story even though there's no "magic".

Not gonna lie, the Brandy version is about neck-and-neck with this one for me, they're both awesome and part of my childhood. The 'whatever you can carry' scene in Ever After counts for a lot though. One of my favourite scenes in anything ever.

I remember it, Brandy is just my favorite, and Ella Enchanted the book. But this one is pretty good too.

This is my favorite version as well. The costuming was beautiful and it just felt like magic. I'm pretty sure it was the first live action adaption I saw too.

I really love Brandy's version too. But my other favorites include the Hilary Duff and Selena Gomez A Cinderella Story (1 & 2). Fuck, I really love the dance scene in ACS 2

Ever After for me is one of those movies that I kinda forget about until one day I'll be stuck at home sick or quarantining or whatever and then I see it's on TV and remember how much I enjoy it.

Of course I remember, because....DREW. I luff her so much.

I grew up with the Lesley Ann Warren R&H, though the Brandy one did come out when I was a kid.

This is my favorite Cinderella movie too. :)

This is legitimately one of my favorite movies, so you're not alone, anon!

Also, this reminds me of the commerical back when the movie first came out. That awesome techno piece they used had been in my teenage brain since 1998 and it took decades for me to find it. Thank God for youtube and shazam.

(Anonymous) 2022-01-22 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
don't worry anon, no cinderella movie is as forgotten as the 1978 movie with Charlaine Woodard. (Ever After is one of my absolute favorite adaptations though for real)

It's my favourite version too! I love that she's not a damsel in distress sitting around waiting for a man to save her.

(Anonymous) 2022-01-22 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose the Disney version is what I grew up with since Ever After didn't come out until the summer between high school and college, but Ever After is definitely my favorite. I've never even seen the version with Brandy. I'm sure Ever After is fun for kids, but I think it's perhaps the version most easily appreciated by teens and young adults because it still has all the romance and pretty dresses but is less magic princess-y and has relatable, more nuanced characters living in a less black and white world.

Ever After is one of those movies I can watch and rewatch, repeatedly and just never get tired of.
