Doing drugs isn't about sense. It's about escapism. It's about depression or anxiety or any number of disorders. People who do drugs don't do it because they think it's fun; they do it because they're running away from something too big for them to handle. It doesn't make it right, but your judgment of him makes me question your sense.

I beg to differ. Plenty of people do do drugs because they think its fun. Some of them then discover the drawbacks and stop, others use socially but don't develop dependency, others use as a means of escapism and may develop a dependency as a result, while others develop a dependency mainly due to the biochemical effects. Generally it depends on the type of drug and the individual concerned.

You could be right. I am speaking in generalities and absolutes and that almost certainly guarantees that I'm incorrect.

I'm only speaking from my personal experience, being that every single person I have ever met that did/does drugs---and we're not talking a small number---was running away from something. They can say they're just doing it for fun or casually or whatnot, but if someone is turning to a controlled substance for "fun," then they're not all right. Tony Slattery, himself, suffered from depression, which coincided with his drug use. I doubt that's a coincidence.
