Re: Question about quitting my job
(Anonymous) 2022-01-30 01:46 am (UTC)(link)I'm headed to being unemployed and on government disability, with zero qualifications and zero upward mobility!
The bright side: I don't need employment to stay afloat.
The down side: Literally everything else.
So if there was someone at the agency you were close to, keep in touch with them!
I think the relationship there is still too impersonal for this. Like, I can keep all the agency numbers in my phone, that's no problem. But once I no longer work there, I definitely wouldn't contact anybody from the agency unless it was specifically about work. I could probably continue sending them a Christmas card each year without it being weird, but that's about it. I mean, my agency's roster is probably over a thousand people. They know me a little better than most, because I got in when they were only around 200 people. But it's not like we have a social relationship in any way.
I definitely won't be burning any bridges, though. I like my agency and I plan to bow out with as much goodwill as possible.
good luck
Thank you!
Re: Question about quitting my job
(Anonymous) 2022-01-30 02:00 am (UTC)(link)I see!
I mean that you might still send cards every year is a nice touch (and definitely far more than I've done in the past). And if you don't necessarily have a "close" relationship with anyone, then I think the card thing is a nice touch to have people remember you. I definitely have people I've only contacted in regard to "hello, hope all is well, would you be okay if I listed you as a reference? Thank you", so I think you're fine. Although maybe others may have different opinions!
