Me too. Honestly, I don't even understand why people agreeing with the OP.

It's so superficial, and lately all the jokes seem to be about pop culture. :\ Then ripping on half the fanbase because they don't like the dub?

I love YGOTAS, but I love it because it's a parody and it makes me laugh, not because I think it ought to be canon. Canon's fine as it is ~~although I would kill to get Kazuki Takahashi to set fandom straight once and for all in regards to the Bakura and Zork situation, whatever it's meant to be~~, and I still love the series even though it's been over for years now. It's great that TAS got so many people back into YGO (or into it for the first time, or whatever), but... yergh. Am I making sense? Basically, I just don't see what's so awful about canon that the OP wishes TAS would replace it.

And really, I don't see what's awful about it either? But most people seem to treat the Japanese or English version as SERIOUS BUSINESS ALWAYS, when there are many times the characters shown they have excellent senses of humor. ~~And I think he might have gone over the Bakura and Zork situation in the latest reprints into bunkobans, but from what I know Cindy hasn't gotten very far in translating all the after words.~~

Okay, good; I feel like I'm not being very articulate today.

The English version's all right, for all the editing that they did to it. I can't claim to hate it, because if it weren't for the dub, I never would have gotten into the show and therefore probably never have liked it so much that I wanted to watch it in Japanese. I like the Japanese better (for both the voice acting and the wonderful soundtrack), but that's just a personal preference. And yes; the show's got its fair share of humor in there among all the saving-the-world-with-cards stuff. ;P That's entirely possible; I only own the first few volumes of that and haven't yet worked myself up to the horrendous shipping charge the rest of the set's going to cost me. I know that he mentions being totally drugged up in the hospital when he was drawing Zork the first time... hahaha. XD;

And no problem; it's kind of amusing getting email from Mutou Yuugi on LJ, haha.

I was the same, so I can't hate it either. I wouldn't have shilled out for the Viz translated manga, if it wasn't for the dub. Nor would I have peered over at the other Japanese versions, if it wasn't for the dub or the manga.

Then I will continue to satisfy your amusement. :D

I wish that 4Kids had continued on with the uncut dub that they started. I would be totally happy to watch that... Because really, the only thing that turns me off the dub in particular is the cuts, because then you're just not getting the whole thing. Especially now that I've seen the original and can recognize where things are missing (or added, as the case is sometimes). If they started up the uncut dub again, I'd probably watch it for nostalgic purposes.

I do too, though I'm not a Dan Green fan. But seeing the state of Upperdeck and Konami, I have a bad feeling about YGO even staying around.

Dan Green's a pretty funny guy from the podcasts and stuff I've heard him in, but I like his Yami voice much better than his Yugi one, not gonna lie. His Yugi voice does nothing for me at all. And ugh, the Upperdeck-Konami war... T__T

Ah ha. That would explain why I don't get it, then; not familiar with Haruhi at all. ^^; I see that nyoro~n thing a lot in the Phoenix Wright fandom, oddly enough.

He's not making fun of people who choose to watch Japanese over English.

He's making fun of fanbrats who speak in fanbrat Japanese. If you want to speak Japanese ,don't replace every other English word with a Japanese one. If you're writing a fanfic that is very obviously the dub characters, don't use the Japanese names.

There's been times where professional translators would use Japanese terms rather than English. There's also times where people will use other languages as well, such as French or Spanish. It's silly to make fun of people who do this when professionals do this all the time with other languages.

I agree that if you're using dub characters, use dub names. Use dub terms. Keep your canons straight.

I wouldn't have said this to another secret, if that wasn't what I believed.
