I think the show is rather addicting, but I also think that the show is seriously flawed. The characterization of each character is rather horrible, the pacing could not be more jarring, and you just don't understand why anything happens. Like the person above says, she is terribly naive, a flawed character in a world she doesn't fully understand yet. However, the anime doesn't spend much time developing and resolving her character, rather using it to advance a rather heavy plot with and developing a rather boring (that's just my opinion) main character (one of a typical shounen series).

I've only read parts of the manga, but it seem far superior than that of the anime. It spends more time developing each character and plot, esp Nina. At least gives her a little more credit and more of a break than the animators have on the show. I think it's a rather poor adaption to a decent series. I'm so hard to please, perhaps I expected way too much from this series more so to actually find a compelling female character in a shounen series. there really isn't enough of them.

Oh I just recently discovered a new show called Rideback, it's visually stunning and has compelling female characters and a rather decent plot.

I tend not to expect too much of shounen series, though they can obviously be really fun to watch. I guess I prefer seinen? XD I'm not completely up on anime/manga genres; they seem a bit silly to me.
