Maybe. I feel the same way about dogs, though. And most animals really. People I can take or leave. But animals are just the best.

Thirded.

With no functional immune system and being left by my ex to care for 3 cats on my own while my health issues were peaking, I'm assuming toxo got me years ago. Yet while I do love my cat, and often just stare at him while he stares back from his perch on my knees and burbles, sometimes he drives me nuts and I want to drop him out the window for awhile. (I do not, obviously, because not only is that mean, but he came to us front declawed and he is not a smart boy, and I have to keep the basement door closed because when he goes down there he can't find his way back upstairs by himself.)

And also there's the whole "same for other animals" thing. Buns are still top of the list. Two days after meeting my new little boy, sight-unseen until I picked him up to take him home, I would have committed several felonies for him. And I cannot explain how I went from having zero interest in frogs to "omg she is the cutest little thing ever" when one appeared in my house one night.

So I dunno, maybe they all have some kind of parasitic thing? Hahahah.

I honestly love my kitty even when she's doing things like attacking my feet. I'm well aware I'm not rational about her, but we are just that close. We saved each other, and I would totally jump in front of a truck for her. She is genuinely the thing I love most in this world, all other humans included.

I've always said my ultimate life goal is to have my own place where I can have a pet zoo. Two cats, two dogs, a fish tank, and a snake has always been the dream. I should add bunnies to the list too, though. Bunnies are precious.

That sounds like a good dream. :D I came to the conclusion some time ago that if I could just do anything, with health and money no object, I would run a proper rabbit rescue, with tons of room to take in any unwanted rabbit that comes my way, and not have to say no to all the people who ask me. Would love to just live with all the animals, really, but there are lots of places and people who know how to care for cats and dogs - and I've been hyperfocused on rabbits my whole life, so not to be arrogant, I just have a knowledge base that is somewhat uncommon. (I do not know nearly as much about cats or dogs, honestly.)

And yeah, I love my cat all the time too, basically his only faults are that he is TOO sweet and TOO nice and TOO cute. When I am having a bad health day and I'm getting neurological symptoms, my misophonia can be triggered by way too many sounds... including his purring. And he purrs constantly and loudly, especially when he's near me. This is normally adorable and endearing and earns him lots of snuggles. But on those days, it literally makes me want to scream. It's not his fault and he's not doing anything wrong, I just can't tolerate the sound and have to shut him out of the room if I don't want to have panic attacks. :P

I'm pretty good with most animals, but I just seem to understand cats best. I volunteer at the local shelter and sit with the cats. Not as much as I used to, but I still do it every few weeks. Even some of the really skittish or anti-social cats will come up to me if I just sit there and give them time.

That really sucks about the noise, I'm so sorry. I've found that when I'm in the midst of major migraine where I become fairly sound sensitive, the only sound I can handle is my girl purring against me.

I really hope you are able to rescue lots of bunnies and give them the love and care that you clearly know how to give them.
