> too cowardly for anything actually horrifying to have happened

Because... it wasn't that kind of movie? It was a movie examining inter-generational trauma and how family relationships can be fraught and while you may love each other, you can still hurt each other, and just "being there for family" isn't enough, you have to actually address those hurts.

What a weird complaint. What kind of horrifying thing were you expecting?

i wasn't expecting anything in particular, just something to justify people not just being pissed at bruno, but actively trying to prevent mirabel from even mentioning him. that's some very intense shunning so i expected something horrible to have happened that ofc wasn't his fault, but would still make people react that way

...I mean if all you hear from someone is bad news, you're gonna shun them.

"Hey, your fish is gonna die"

"Uh, you're gonna put on a lot of weight?"

"...You're gonna lose your hair."

"It's gonna rain at your wedding."

"You're gonna fall in love but he'll get with someone else."

If all of one person hears good news, and this is a constant thing of him delivering bad news, you kinda grow to shoot the messenger. That person becomes synonymous with bad luck. It's superstition.

yeah i saw the movie too

NAYRT

I don’t even disagree that the family should have apologized for, or even just acknowledged, how they treated and viewed Bruno for flimsy reasons. Especially because this is all based on powers that he couldn’t control that outcome of, and he never meant any harm.

But you’re coming off as an obnoxious prick to everyone for no good reason.

the first anon who replied told me that i was too stupid to understand a kids' movie. this anon told me i was making a "weird complaint". do explain to me at which point i'd be justified for being rude back, you seem to have very specific ideas for that

(Anonymous) 2022-02-06 01:55 pm (UTC)(link)
You know what, you have a point there. I take back the “for no good reason part”.

(Anonymous) 2022-02-06 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
It was pretty rude of them to point out how weird and stupid you were being, but then you just got weirder and stupider in response. So, I guess you sure showed them!

and you're like convinced you're the good guy here, that's fascinating
