(Anonymous) 2022-02-08 07:56 am (UTC)(link)tbf, the ex-husband in question was emotionally abusive and only married the protagonist for economic reasons (while pretending to her that it was a love match). So I'd call that scene less dreary and more purposefully disturbing in furtherance of the plot and characterizations.
