I don’t get how any part of the secret can be read as OP implying that other people just need to do what they do to improve and be more confident. The secret is all about OP, and why they feel as confident and good in their work as they do, and not them trying to use their experiences as advice. The only time they bring up other people is to mention that most people hate and feel insecure about their own work, and about how OP can’t relate and doesn’t feel the same. And the only other time other people can be considered brought up is when they mention other authors who do good work giving them positive feedback.

So it’s one thing for people to react negatively to the secret because they think OP is arrogant and bragging. But to infer that OP is being ableist and telling anyone “just do what I do and you’ll be less anxious and more confident”? I don’t see where anyone is extrapolating that from at all, and I’ve reread the secret multiple times to try to see. I think it’s a big reach for people to say OP is even trying to give advice, much less imply confidence building and positive mental health space is a one size fits all. OP is really only talking about themselves, and explaining why they personally, and only they, feel as good about their work as they do. People are free to not like that, of course. But the leaps I’ve seen some people take to make this secret something it’s not, to try to find something to be offended over, is a bit absurd.

I’m not talking about you though. Your comment was very well thought out and respectful. I might not agree with all of it, but I appreciate you stating your thoughts on the matter in the manner you did.
