I used to do a lot of secrets about my niche fandoms, but the total silence in response kind of turned me off doing it :/ Felt too much like shouting into the void, you know?

Sorry, what I mean is, I wasn't really into anything fandom and so almost ALL of the secrets were about things I had no idea what they actually were...but I still came here and read every day. Someone showed me the LJ community and I thought it was fun to read other people's thoughts (and the resulting conversation) was fun for me.

I guess my fandom WAS f!s

Same. A lot of the stuff I like is either short run, old, or old and short run. It seems that they don't have any fandom, or if they did then I missed the boat on it.
