Sorry, nonny. 20 years ago, I think I could have been that friend (though in my case, it was less competitiveness and more my being dumb and anal about others not canon... took a few years to knock that out of my head). Maybe she does see you as competition, or maybe she doesn't want to see you struggle like she does. Whatever the case, sounds like she's not a good choice for a writing buddy... maybe time to find another person or a writing comm?
