That's the part of this whole thing that turns it from "ugh, that's dumb" to "wow, that's really fucking stupid" for me. It's like a microsome of absolute greed to the detriment of everything it touches.

Exactly! With even the WWF getting into NFTs, it makes it feel like we’re living in a world gone mad. And all over greed, or at best ignorance. If even foundations who are supposed to help the environment decide to sell NFTs for the sake of their charities, the situation is starting to feel hopeless.

If they didn’t hurt the environment, NFTs would just be a tiresome trend, and I could live with that even if it was a bit annoying. But they’re not a harmless trend. And plenty of people care, but they’re not the ones in charge, so what can we do to combat the environmental risks(other than boycott and protest, which isn’t usually something corporations care about as much as we wish they did)?
