It's kind of rare for me to get into any movie/show to be honest. But The Fifth Element, The Crow, Buffy, and MLP: Friendship is Magic come immediately to mind as particularly hyped things that I was left going "...Really?" when I managed to see them.

SA Though out of curiosity I am curious about your age, because all of those things (MLP excluded) are core tween/teen memories for me, but I could definitely see why someone who wasn't exposed to them at their infancy (the media, not the person) wouldn't have that same nostalgia-like/attachment to them.

Mid-40s, so I think if I remember right they were all in my mid-late teens (my entire teens/early twenties is a blur due to illness though). Except MLP, yeah. I watched the original MLP on Saturday mornings as a kid (still have a bunch of plushies), and so many people about my age insisted it was awesome, so I figured if nothing else there's the nostalgia factor, I'd have a look. But nah. It wasn't terrible, just ... it was very much what I would expect from a kids' show, and I couldn't see what about it attracted (and kept) so many adult fans. But it seems like not a bad thing to be into, if you can get into it.

I didn’t get why it attracted an adult audience either! Like, I could appreciate it as a good show for younger children, but it just did nothing for me as an adult. I like plenty of media that’s considered to be “for kids”, but most of them are for older kids or all audiences. Shows for younger kids aren’t interesting to me as an adult to watch on my own. I think I would like it a bit more if I was babysitting or had a child of my own, because it would probably be better than a lot of other “baby shows”, as far as not feeling condescending. But I still wouldn’t want to watch it if I wasn’t watching it with child. I applaud Lauren Faust for making a good kids show, but I absolutely do not get it’s appeal for adults.

Yeah, I'd much rather watch that than a lot of the stuff I had to endure when my youngest sib (18 years younger) was a little kid. Cute without being totally saccharine, inclusive and positive attitude. Just left to my own devices it's not what I'd put on.

That one kind of saddened me because I wanted to like it as much as my friends did and get into it with them. Plus there were bunnies. And one of them was apparently a pushy brat, so rabbit owners have generally been in agreement "someone on the staff has actually lived with rabbits". :D (I think there was a secret here about that once and I asked a FB bunny group, hahah.) I am all about realistic depictions of bunny sass.

Hahaha. Yeah, I wouldn't even know which of these (or all of these) might spark that response this time. I've gotten the "Whoa, how can YOU not like THAT?" reaction from all of them because on paper it sure seems like the kind of thing I might enjoy for one reason or another.
