101) Give it a try. My first reaction to slash was also a kind of unpleasant embarrassment because it turned me on, but I felt like it shouldn't. But I got over it. Now I'm just circumspect about who I'm with when I talk about it, the way I am when talking about my turn ons in general.

105) You can't make any of these assumptions you are making and reasonably expect them to be true. The only reason why you make them is because you feel a need to demonize anyone who doesn't share your preferences, and that's some serious insecurity. But really, fandom is much more fun if you don't expect the world love exactly the things you do. It takes a ton of pressure off of you to justify what you like to others when you fall in love with an unpopular character.

124) You know, sometimes I think people really think all of us on the interenets live in their computer and everything we write is directed at them personally. How else to explain those self-absorbed idiots like the one who responded to you there.

145) It's really a preference thing. Personally, a doll evokes no emotions in me beyond a vaguely unsettled one if it's too realistic. It's a thing, like a toaster only without any function. I can vaguely appreciate the amount of effort done to make one, but if I owned one I wouldn't have the first idea what to do with it. DVDs and Manga tell me exciting stories that get my heart racing and my imagination going. Obviously, you must get something out of a doll that makes it worth the $200, but I've given up trying to figure out what that is.

158) Oh yeah. Having a squick doesn't mean they have the moral high ground, and only the most retarded can't tell the difference between what we think is RL healthy and acceptable and what we enjoy in fiction. Those who can't make that distinction should stick to watching Dora.

That's not it at all. I'm referring to the "haters" who just hate on him constantly. It is ridiculous. I don't mind someone simply disliking him, but to bring it up all the time and treat him like Suikoden's punching bag is idiotic.

They hate on the character because something in the character annoys them. Period. Though I agree it's a bad habit to create a fanclub out of your dislike of a character. And it's really presumptive to think people around you give a flying fuck that you dislike a character, so it's a bit attention whoring. Perhaps the best presumption you can make is that the person doing this is still pretty young, or if she's old, she's very immature for her age.

But you still can't make the assumptions the OP did about those who hate on the character. They simply don't follow. In fact, they are down right random.
