(Anonymous) 2009-03-22 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)I think it's much easier to like him if you play Suikoden IV twice and actually SEE why he acts the way he does in the beginning. He seems pressured into acting more mature than he's ready to, and as a result he can't back up his boasting and his best friend has to take over. I don't really blame him for going crazy trying to redeem himself, when all he can do throughout the game is fail and fail again until he's floating on a log in rags. It's really hard to hate a character so pitiful. In fact, it's what makes him so interesting. He's not just a dick for the sake of being one. It's a little more complicated than that, but figures. How many lazy fanboys and girls take even two minutes to think "Hmmmmm" rather than "Diiiiick." Must everything always be laid out in black and white? Damn.
