I think I don't like it because the Vera Wang association makes it feel more pointedly about whether he looks masculine than whether he has to wear sequins.

it would be cool for aspiring Olympic skaters to not feel pressured into thinking they have to have fancy and expensive costumes just to stand out.
Honestly, while it would be great, this costume does not advance that in any way. The kids who have olympic hopes know 100% this was vera wang and they wouldn't be able to get away with it

Oh, for sure, I don’t think this costume advances that at all either, and I phrased my comment wrong to imply it did. I agree with AYRT that it would be nice for costuming to be less elite as a concept in the future, but this costume doesn’t do the job, and being a Vera Wang piece is only one of the reasons. I still lowkey love the costume anyways, but I have odd taste.
