What's this series about? I'm always a slut for some good mid-century sci fi (as long as it doesn't get too crazy-misogynistic)

It's a great series but very much of its time. Adaptation would have to be really self-aware, tongue in cheek campy a la Flash Gordon imo. Any hint of seriousness would be opening the can of worms.

That whole honest election subplot would land interestingly though...
