I work a warehouse job, so I have 8 hours 6 days a week where I just listen to podcasts/music to not go insane.

Yeah, Big Finish tends to be a big chunk of my workday. I have tried listening to them while driving, though, and I find that I tend to absorb less, so I 100% get your complaint.

I don't know about driving, but try listening while doing chores or playing some really simple games. Also the only way for me to concentrate on audio is to use headphones, it becomes background noise otherwise

I used to mostly listen to Big Finish and podcasts on the bus to work, which is probably easier than driving. Unfortunately that means my Big Finish listening has dropped precipitously over the past 2 years.

Try the audio story "The Pescatons", it was made in the seventies with Tom Baker, and is less complicated, and more straightforward.

The type of driving also matters a lot for me. I used to listen to audiobooks on my commute, which was largely calm highways. Now that I mostly drive through towns I can’t follow stories like that anymore.

I have to admit, I always side-eye people who say they listen to audio books while driving. I just can't imagine them being 100 % focused on the road while listening to a story with a plot they want to follow...

Ooh, I love that you chose The Marian Conspiracy for your secret because that's one of my favorite audios. Also, I get you. I can only concentrate on the audios when I'm sitting down and doing embroidery or coloring. They end up being background noise otherwise.

The only way I can listen to audio books/audio plays is while walking or knitting/crocheting.

If I am driving or actively doing ANYTHING I tune it out lol.

Suggestion

I can't always focus on podcasts while driving, OP. Maybe try when doing mindless chores like cleaning?
