Secret inspire-er here. Yes. Yes it is. And it's hot garbage by a hot garbage director with TONS of hot garbage studio interference. The guy's take wasnt so much "bad" as "completely nonsensical" to the point it read like an algorithm put together something for karma and raising the profile of two really bad movies.
