A common view is that IW is Thanos' story.

oh wow i hate that, lmao. He's rather baldly a foil for Tony, and since they've done zero with him before that had to be built up with screentime, including his relationship with Gamora, but that makes him more clearly an antagonist rather than protagonist, not less.

I mean, yeah, I don't agree with that take at all and it's often just one step below the obnoxious "Thanos was right" crowd.

I don't like it either anon. I think(?) what happened was one of the directors/writers made a comment along the lines of there being an argument that the lead character in IW is Thanos and a certain section of fandom (such as Reddit) really went with it and ran it into the ground.
