113. Okay?

Also, just FYI, dividing women gamers into hardcores and stupid squeeing schoolgirls who only like one or two genres and obviously just aren't as cool is neither progressive nor helpful.

118. The fandom would shank you for it? Why? The movie ending was undeniably better. Too bad the rest of the movie was crap.

122. If you recognize that it's a fucking game then why do you indiscriminately think less of everybody who plays it? Get over yourself, you're no better than they are.

123. Really? Even the twenty-somethings who just go to movies for fun and then kind of forget about it and pick up the DvD and think fandoms are really rather weird and bizarre? Really? Because there are a lot of people like that, and it's sort of absolutely fucking ridiculous to extend your hate-on to people outside of the fandom.

131. Her family wrote her a memorial on her FF.N account...? What?

132. Admittedly, they're both pretty easy to woobify. At least, the JEH version of Rorshach where he is an awkward and emotional pocket-boy.

153. I'm sorry. That really sucks. I hope more people take notice.

132. Little Rorschach was adorable in the movie, too. While in the comics... my god was he an ugly kid.

I hated him so bad in the comics. In the movie, everybody else around him sucked so bad that he somehow became the cute one (except Ozymandias, but he couldn't be the cute one because he was busy being the fierce bitch). Plus he was so tiny! You just want to put him on your shelf and have him scare away visitors.

I have mixed feelings for everyone in both the comic and the movie, though the like/dislike ratio tilts either way depending on the source. Overall while Rorschach is the most horribly fascinating and engaging character for me, Laurie is the only one I would have coffee with.

If I actually met Rorschach I would probably cross the street and walk away fast.

I loved Laurie in the comic - she was my favourite. I hated her in the movie. If I met Laurie movie I'd slap her in the mouth and go have coffee with Jon or Dan or somebody.

God, Laurie's first line delivery made me cringe. Afterwards she got a bit better, but she wasn't really memorable.

Dan is someone who was a bit better in the film compared to the comic; he actually seemed to have a smidge of outrage.

Re: 132

He's so spineless. I wished he would grow up a bit, and I'm glad for his outrage in the movie...

... but it also means that there's a pretty convincing argument for him and Rorshach being totally, totally gay together.

Even Dan? ;_;

Dan was cute, but kind of mediocre. He didn't really get to do much and he only hit his emotional peak after Rorshach was gone.

113. Doesn't seem like she's doing that... just that everyone she can find IRL are shallow squeebrats.

131. Maybe her family was involved in her interests and hobbies? Crazy, I know. Hopefully the girl didn't have too much porn on there...

[identity profile] paperclipchains.livejournal.com 2009-03-23 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
113. I guess. It's just my petpeeve. I hate it when these "hardcore" women gamers feel the need to call out other girls because they're either casual or they don't branch out much. Conforming to the narrow, hardcore androcentric version of what good gaming is is not the same as progress when it comes to getting girls into gaming.

131. Involved, yeah, but to have her password? It seems dodgy to me.

Re: 131.

[identity profile] kinosino.livejournal.com 2009-03-23 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Meh, my husband has the same, pretty crappy password for everything. Then when he needs to know my password for something for some reason he whines because "you're trying to keep family out". Yeah, that's what passwords do. Keep people out. Family is irrelevant.

My point is, some people are more casual with their passwords, apparently.

It wasn't just her family, she was loved by all of the communities she was a part of. Her family made a post on her LJ. The rest of us did memorial posts on our communities/websites.

She will be missed.

I think you're missing my point.

No - I'm not missing your point, and if you had someone in your life fake their death, I am sorry.

I think you missed my point. This person was special to a lot of people, and if there is a 1% chance that a death notice posted on the internet is real, maybe a little compassion is called for.

I posted the secret... I'm so sorry for your loss.
