It certainly wasn't ten years ago. The Kirby covers were beloved by the Pratchett fandom.

UK, about 50% loves Kirby and 50% hates.

I think US fandom just assumes that everyone loves them because we hear about it at a distance. Maybe that's just me though.

Also I'd say that the proportion of the fandom who love the Kirby covers are largely the older fans who remember them initially coming out in those and have the associated "my canon" nostalgia. I'm in my 30s and obvs there's some selection bias here but I know no one within ten years of me in age who likes them.

I'm a little bit older than you, and... yeah, always hated them. I was really pleased when the hard back re-issues started coming out. I think they're really pretty anyway, but they could be a lot less nice and I'd still be happy to replace the old Kirby paperbacks.

Are we sure some of the people who say they love Kirby's covers aren’t getting him mixed up with Kidby?
