Hee, Tale of Two Cities musical is actually really cool. I went to one and was sitting next to a group of high school lit teachers who were going to see it in order to tell if they could send their students to it. They started off the play laughing in amusement/derision, and by the end of it at least three were actually crying and going "Nooooo, Sydney, nooooooooo! ;____;". The first third or so is a bit strange, given the vast amount of exposition they have to squeeze in, but once they get past that they do quite well. ^^;

Must admit I've never seen Secret Garden, though...

Good point. The beginning is amusing, but by the end of the first third, I fell in love with it, as soon as the bring on Sydney, the "vast amount of exposition" stops and the music starts getting amazing. What songs did you like?

See Secret Garden. The singing and the storybook sets are amazing.

Oh, absolutely! The exposition is necessary, but kind of boring. All the interesting characters show up after that, anyway - and they handle even the relatively minor characters (Miss Pross, Jerry Cruncher, etc.) with good grace and lots of winks to those who have read the book.

I like The Way It Ought to Be, Out of Sight Out of Mind, Until Tomorrow (of course!), Little One, and Everything Stays the Same. All of them are great, obviously, but those are particular favorites. ^^

If it ever comes around, I will try...
