Haven't been there in ages, but cosigning this.

Knitting drama is so samey tho.

(Anonymous) 2022-03-02 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
But have you heard the knitting.com debacle going on now?

(Anonymous) 2022-03-02 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
That is, like, the only exception to it tho, otherwise I roll my eyes. At least fandom drama is a lot more varied than "X stole Y's pattern" or "Z stole W's yarn."

right?? unless it's something truly batshit like Dashcon, fandom drama being aired there just solidifies the old stereotype among non-fandom people that we're all creepy and dumb. we know when we're being creepy and dumb, we don't need KnicksRule1995 who only understands sports and cars coming in and pointing that out to us. It's high school all over again.

Huh, I found the WoW drama writeups interesting.

I only started reading the sub pretty recently, and those, card-game drama, and some of the sports drama are what drew me in - almost all to my surprise. But the quality of write-ups definitely varies.

Haven't read that one, and I'm also newish to that thread. Sure quality of the write-ups varies, but I enjoy them because they tend to be little peeks into hobbies or fandoms I'm not familiar with, and many also include a brief history of that hobby/fandom and what led up to the drama. I always click on the YGO and sneaker posts, as well as any anime or major fandom (Tumblr) related ones. But I really love the random niche ones! I had no idea X was such a big deal or even had a following!

It's something cute to check out.

Yeah! It's very nice. I'm much more positive than secret OP on the reddit, but it might also be because I'm relatively new.

Lmao sorry, fandom's my only real hobby.

(Did you see that F1 safety history post tho? That was LEGIT.)

(Anonymous) 2022-03-02 09:38 am (UTC)(link)
If we're separating fandom from other hobbies, doesn't F1 also fall more under "fandom" than "hobby"?

(Anonymous) 2022-03-02 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't checked that r/ in ages, but I remember that this one kid wrote really fascinating sneaker collector drama posts. I do not understand that hobby at all but those were fun to read!

(Anonymous) 2022-03-02 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
They still make the sneaker posts if we're thinking about the same person! One of my favorite write ups even if I'm not a sneakerhead
