Fic Readers/Writers
(Anonymous) 2022-03-03 02:33 am (UTC)(link)That is, I basically want to take requests/plot bunnies that people want to see fulfilled and write them!
My issue is...should I just post a fic where I have people out their requests in the comments (chapter one will be a "how this works")? And the post a new chapter with the link to the fic once completed? I'm trying to avoid Tumblr and other socials while somehow getting at least a few people to respond. It's essentially a free commission. Any thoughts/comments? Is this even a good idea? Thanks!

(Anonymous) 2022-03-03 03:45 am (UTC)(link)I'm trying to avoid those social media websites. But I see what you're saying. Honestly the tags were going to be very specific, since it wasn't going to be an anthology (I know the wall of tags you speak of feat. 17 different fandoms). The tags were just going to be the pairing and then "requests"/"gift fic" since that would be the "fic" where people could comment and place their requests. Think of it more as a request sheet. Anyway, anon below said that kind of thing violates the TOS, so I suppose I'll have to turn to reddit and maybe trawl through tumblr or something. I do have a DW, so maybe I'll look around here. Thanks!

(Anonymous) 2022-03-03 03:03 am (UTC)(link)You could check out r/Fanfiction. Even if you don’t want to make a Reddit account, you could look at the monthly “plot bunny adoption” threads and take ideas/prompts from there. (There’s also r/AO3)
Re: Fic Readers/Writers
(Anonymous) 2022-03-03 03:40 am (UTC)(link)I didn't realize that! I'm not trying to actually "socialize" with people. All I want to do is find out what people would like in a fic and write it. But I'll look into the r/ you've suggested! Thanks
Re: Fic Readers/Writers
(Anonymous) 2022-03-03 04:04 am (UTC)(link)My serious advice is, don't post one fic where each chapter is for a different fandom. They tend to spam the feed of every fandom they're connected to, and if you update often that frustrates potential readers very quickly.
Also. Non-creative, non-meta 'ephemera' - like a request for prompts, or looking for a fic, is explicitly disallowed by AO3 Terms of Service, so best not do that either. (You can, like, advertise your Prompt Collection in the notes to an existing fanwork, though.)
And, good luck! Prompt collections can be a really fun time for everybody, and I hope this is for you.

(Anonymous) 2022-03-03 05:07 am (UTC)(link)Thanks so much! I had no idea the prompt meme collection existed. Definitely gonna check it out.
Also, I see what anon above you was talking about. Thanks again!

(Anonymous) 2022-03-03 05:42 am (UTC)(link)I just looked at the promot fills and I'm kind of sad there's so few, so I think I might do this! Idk how much traction it will get, but hey! Why not?
