eh, pretty sure "insecure people" is meant to be read as people who have general issues with insecurity or are needy about validation in general, looking at the examples given. there sure are things i'm not confident about, but i wouldn't describe myself as "an insecure person"

just like everyone can be mean about something off and on, but that doesn't make them "mean people" where meanness is a big and consistent descriptor for their overall personality

there was a time when i felt bad if i didnt emotionally support every fandom acquaintance that seemed to need help

i learned to pick and choose quickly when it wore me the fuck out

I'm curious actually - in this rewatch are you watching the original English dub or a subtitled version or a better version in another language?

Because honestly a lot of the reason my friends and I laughed at it so much (while enjoying it, mind you) was because the original English dub was on occasion so very dumb. "Home For Infinite Losers" and "I can see their parachutes" and so on. Also the whole thing where for awhile Chris Sabat was voicing half the cast (and darnit I loved Brian Drummond - in other shows too, but his Vegeta was fantastic) and one of my friends used to joke that he was probably doing the dinky BGM too, in his basement on a Casio keyboard. XD

But I've seen a little of it with the original BGM and subtitles, and it's not nearly so ridiculous as what we got here in the States back in the day. So I totally believe you that it can be a pretty awesome show. Just wondering if you're watching a better version than I got to see, or if you're managing to look past the, er, questionable choices. ;)

This take is neither new nor unique.

Pretty sure this exact wank was the cool hot-button topic a couple of years ago. You couldn't go anywhere without someone on Tumblr or wherever tearing this book apart for being 'problematic', and this secret honestly just reads like a word-for-word regurgitation of every single one of those posts.
