I'm curious actually - in this rewatch are you watching the original English dub or a subtitled version or a better version in another language?

Because honestly a lot of the reason my friends and I laughed at it so much (while enjoying it, mind you) was because the original English dub was on occasion so very dumb. "Home For Infinite Losers" and "I can see their parachutes" and so on. Also the whole thing where for awhile Chris Sabat was voicing half the cast (and darnit I loved Brian Drummond - in other shows too, but his Vegeta was fantastic) and one of my friends used to joke that he was probably doing the dinky BGM too, in his basement on a Casio keyboard. XD

But I've seen a little of it with the original BGM and subtitles, and it's not nearly so ridiculous as what we got here in the States back in the day. So I totally believe you that it can be a pretty awesome show. Just wondering if you're watching a better version than I got to see, or if you're managing to look past the, er, questionable choices. ;)

I'm a big fan of the manga. I began reading it and buying all the volumes for the first time when I was 10 years old and it was in peak hype in my country.
Since then I reread all the mangas (I usually skim until the beginning of "DragonBall Z") every couple of years. I'm now 33 years old and I've reread it AT LEAST 15 times.
I love it! It's very essential Shounen manga, but it's so well done. Simple to the point of perfection and with memorable characters! Vegeta, Bulma, Piccolo, Gohan, Trunks, Freezer, C18... All great characters with excellent character development and story arcs. Unfortunately Goku is the one that stands out as the "not really well developed main protagonist" IMHO. Still, he could be way worse.
I don't think my love for the manga is only due to nostalgia. Nostalgia is certainly a part of it, not going to lie, but it's a really great story standing on its on. Obviously some arcs are better than others, but overral an A+ manga all around! I'm glad you're enjoying the anime. :)
My favourite arc is the Freeza/Namecc arc!!! What's yours?

I liked the original Dragon Ball, but Z got wacky for me, and too drawn out (yes, I realize that complaint isn't very original). I did like the little family moments though, I admit.

The abridged version seemed okay from what I saw of it.

my godson started to read the manga and he LOVES it. he absolutely absorbs each volume as i did as a teen. glad to see tradition keeps

I don't have an issue with them casting an actor of a different race for one of them. I do have an issue with them going for typical masculine looks rather than the specifically "beautiful" looks especially Lestat has.

Of all fandoms, this should be the one where people are able to sit back and see what actually happens rather than prejudging - remember the outrage when Tom Cruise was cast? And Anne Rice taking out a whole page newspaper advert to say she was wrong about him?

(Also, why does Daniel being older make it "less gay"? You only want CW-type actors as your gay characters or what?)

Though personally I am concerned about an older Claudia...

I assume they'll change Louis' backstory and will see what they'll do with it.
Not sure how older Daniel will make it less gay and am more curious about the casting for Armand (I guess they won't make him an actual teen, but maybe someone in their early twenties?).

Anne Rice was pretty involved in this before she died and I think her (gay) son still is, so I'm not sure they'll turn down the gay.

Still sad that Bryan Fuller left tho.

I'm more worried about the fact that Claudia is going to look/be around 20. The completely changes/ruins the dynamic between her and her 'family' and VERY MUCH makes me worry that they are going to try and de-gayify it as much as possible.

Probably go for a louid/claudia romance instead of lestat/louis.

Also make Armand a GINGER YOU COWARDS

Ugh, that's annoying, I'm sorry people are doing that.

As a big CR fan who came in at the end of the Vox Machina campaign and watched the Mighty Nein campaign in full, the cartoon is the only way I'M going to be watching the Vox Machina campaign, because barring some EXTREME dedication and binge strategizing, it's just not a medium that's easy to catch up on, and I do wish more people were cognizant and accepting of that large hurdle.
